BTC across the archipelago
Your eSIM connects to BTC on 4G, the national operator. The Bahamas spreads across roughly 700 islands and cays over 800km of ocean, and coverage naturally concentrates where people are.
Nassau, Paradise Island, Freeport and Grand Bahama are well covered. The larger out islands — Eleuthera, Harbour Island, Exuma, Abaco, Andros — have coverage in the settlements and thin quickly beyond them.
Boats, cays and the gaps between
Much of what people come for happens on the water: the Exuma sandbars, the swimming pigs, the snorkelling cays, the day charters. Once you're out between islands, expect to lose signal for stretches.
Ferries and mail boats between the islands drop out mid-route. If you're arranging a charter or a pickup, confirm the details before you leave the dock rather than assuming you'll get a message through.
Cost and sizing
The Bahamas sits at the expensive end of our range, reflecting island wholesale rates. Hotel and resort Wi-Fi is widespread and generally good, so most visitors do fine on 1 GB at £10.99 covering the days out.
Good to know
Questions, answered
Will I have signal on the out islands?+
In the settlements on Eleuthera, Exuma, Abaco and Andros, yes. Away from them, and on the water between islands, coverage drops off quickly.
Do I need much data if my hotel has Wi-Fi?+
Probably not. Resort Wi-Fi in the Bahamas is generally good, so 1 GB usually covers the boat trips and days out where you're away from it.
How do I install it?+
After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.
Will it work on my phone?+
Most phones from the last few years support eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung/Pixel). Check your phone in Settings, or use our compatibility checker.
When does my plan start?+
Validity counts from first connection in the destination, not from purchase — so you can buy and install early without wasting days.
Can I keep using my normal number?+
Yes. The eSIM is data-only and runs alongside your usual SIM, so calls and texts on your main number still work.
