Cellcard and Metfone on 4G

Your eSIM connects to Cellcard and Metfone. Coverage here is 4G rather than 5G, which is entirely sufficient for maps, messaging, ride-hailing and video calls — worth stating plainly.

Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Battambang, Sihanoukville and Kampot are all well covered, as are the main national highways between them.

The Angkor complex

Angkor Archaeological Park is large — around 400 square kilometres — and you'll cover it by tuk-tuk over one to three days. Coverage across the main temple circuit, including Angkor Wat, Bayon and Ta Prohm, is good.

The outlying temples like Beng Mealea and Koh Ker are patchier. The practical use is agreeing a pickup point with your driver after sunrise at Angkor Wat, when several thousand people are all leaving at once and every tuk-tuk looks identical.

How much data

A week covering Siem Reap and Phnom Penh runs on 3 GB. Two weeks including the coast and the islands wants 5 GB at £6.99. Note that Koh Rong and the southern islands have limited coverage regardless of plan.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Will I have signal at the Angkor temples?+

Across the main circuit — Angkor Wat, Bayon, Ta Prohm — yes. The outlying temples like Beng Mealea and Koh Ker are patchier. Handy for finding your tuk-tuk driver in the post-sunrise scrum.

Is it 5G?+

No, Cambodia runs on 4G with Cellcard and Metfone. That's plenty for maps, messaging, ride-hailing and video calls — we'd rather tell you than imply otherwise.

How do I install it?+

After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.

Will it work on my phone?+

Most phones from the last few years support eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung/Pixel). Check your phone in Settings, or use our compatibility checker.

When does my plan start?+

Validity counts from first connection in the destination, not from purchase — so you can buy and install early without wasting days.

Can I keep using my normal number?+

Yes. The eSIM is data-only and runs alongside your usual SIM, so calls and texts on your main number still work.
