Not the Dominican Republic
Worth clearing up first, because it happens constantly. Dominica is a small, mountainous, English-speaking island in the Eastern Caribbean between Guadeloupe and Martinique. The Dominican Republic is a much larger Spanish-speaking country sharing Hispaniola with Haiti, roughly a thousand kilometres away.
They have different networks, different plans and, at the time of writing, very different prices. If you booked Punta Cana, you want the Dominican Republic page.
FLOW coverage on a very vertical island
Your eSIM connects to FLOW on 4G. Roseau, Portsmouth, the coastal road and the airport areas are covered. Dominica is the most mountainous island in the Eastern Caribbean and coverage stops fairly abruptly inland.
The Boiling Lake hike, the Waitukubuli National Trail and most of Morne Trois Pitons national park have little to no signal. These are serious walks in genuinely wild terrain — go with a guide and don't treat your phone as a safety net.
How much data
Much of what you'll do here is beyond coverage anyway, so buy modestly. 1 GB at £8.99 covers the connected parts of a week. Whale watching trips off the west coast hold signal near shore.
Good to know
Questions, answered
Is this the same as the Dominican Republic?+
No — completely different countries about a thousand kilometres apart. Dominica is a small mountainous island in the Eastern Caribbean; the Dominican Republic shares Hispaniola with Haiti. If you're heading to Punta Cana, you want the Dominican Republic plan.
Will I have signal on the Boiling Lake hike?+
Little to none. It's a demanding six to eight hour round trip through Morne Trois Pitons national park. Go with a guide, and don't rely on a phone signal for anything.
How do I install it?+
After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.
Will it work on my phone?+
Most phones from the last few years support eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung/Pixel). Check your phone in Settings, or use our compatibility checker.
When does my plan start?+
Validity counts from first connection in the destination, not from purchase — so you can buy and install early without wasting days.
Can I keep using my normal number?+
Yes. The eSIM is data-only and runs alongside your usual SIM, so calls and texts on your main number still work.
