Magti across the country
Your eSIM connects to Magti on 4G. Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Telavi and the main routes are all well covered, as is the Georgian Military Highway up to Kazbegi.
The high Caucasus is another matter. Svaneti has coverage in Mestia and thins quickly beyond it. Tusheti, reached over a seasonal pass, has very little.
Excellent value, and a country that rewards wandering
Georgia is one of the better-value destinations on our list, and it happens to be a country where independent travel works unusually well — marshrutka minibuses, cheap taxis, and a wine region you can drive around in a day.
Having maps and translation makes a real difference, since Georgian script is genuinely unreadable if you don't know it and road signs outside Tbilisi aren't always transliterated.
The mountains and how much data
Kazbegi and the Gergeti Trinity church have coverage. The trekking routes above them, and the Svaneti traverse between Mestia and Ushguli, largely don't.
5 GB at £6.99 covers a fortnight generously. Georgia is cheap enough that there's no reason to run tight.
Good to know
Questions, answered
Will I have signal in Svaneti and the high Caucasus?+
In Mestia, yes. Beyond it — on the traverse to Ushguli or up in Tusheti — very little. Download offline maps before heading into the mountains, and note that some passes are seasonal.
Is it useful for reading signs and menus?+
Genuinely, yes. Georgian script is impossible to guess at if you don't know it, and transliteration outside Tbilisi is inconsistent. Camera translation earns its keep here.
How do I install it?+
After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.
Will it work on my phone?+
Most phones from the last few years support eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung/Pixel). Check your phone in Settings, or use our compatibility checker.
When does my plan start?+
Validity counts from first connection in the destination, not from purchase — so you can buy and install early without wasting days.
Can I keep using my normal number?+
Yes. The eSIM is data-only and runs alongside your usual SIM, so calls and texts on your main number still work.
