An archipelago shaped like a butterfly
Guadeloupe is two islands joined by a narrow channel, and they could hardly be more different. Grande-Terre to the east is flat, dry and where the beaches and resorts are. Basse-Terre to the west is volcanic, mountainous and covered in rainforest, with La Soufrière at its centre.
Your eSIM connects to Orange on 5G across both, plus the outlying islands of Marie-Galante, Les Saintes and La Désirade.
European prices, Caribbean setting
Like Martinique, Guadeloupe is an overseas department of France and part of the EU, so it runs on French networks at French rates. A gigabyte costs £1.00 here against £8.99 or more on the nearby English-speaking islands.
If you're island-hopping the Eastern Caribbean, the French departments are where your data budget gets a rest.
Coverage and how much to buy
Pointe-à-Pitre, Le Gosier, Sainte-Anne and Saint-François on Grande-Terre are all well covered. Basse-Terre's coastal road is fine; the Parc National interior, the Carbet Falls trails and the climb up La Soufrière are much thinner.
1 GB at £1.00 covers a week. 5 GB at £3.99 handles a fortnight with the ferries out to Les Saintes and Marie-Galante, which hold signal near shore.
Good to know
Questions, answered
Does it cover Les Saintes and Marie-Galante?+
Yes, the outlying islands are part of Guadeloupe and covered on the same plan. The ferries hold signal near shore, with the odd dip mid-crossing.
Why is it cheaper than the islands next door?+
Guadeloupe is an overseas department of France and part of the EU, running on French networks at European rates. Neighbouring independent islands sit in far pricier small markets.
How do I install it?+
After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.
Will it work on my phone?+
Most phones from the last few years support eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung/Pixel). Check your phone in Settings, or use our compatibility checker.
When does my plan start?+
Validity counts from first connection in the destination, not from purchase — so you can buy and install early without wasting days.
Can I keep using my normal number?+
Yes. The eSIM is data-only and runs alongside your usual SIM, so calls and texts on your main number still work.
