Digicel across the island

Your eSIM connects to Digicel on 4G, the dominant network across the Caribbean and the one with the widest reach in Jamaica. Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios, Port Antonio and Kingston are all well covered, as is the north coast highway linking the resort towns.

The Blue Mountains and the Cockpit Country interior are where signal thins — steep, forested terrain that no network handles well.

Getting about, and why data helps

Jamaica rewards getting out of the resort, and route-finding on the island is easier with maps than without. Route taxis, the drive up to Strawberry Hill, the Blue Hole near Ocho Rios — all easier to sort with a working connection.

Coverage holds along the main coastal roads. The interior routes across the island, particularly the Junction road and the drives up into the mountains, drop out in the valleys.

Cost and how much to buy

Jamaica is pricier per gigabyte than mainland destinations — that's Caribbean wholesale rates rather than our markup. Most resorts and hotels include Wi-Fi, so buy for the time you're out and about. 1 GB at £7.99 covers a week of maps and messaging for most visitors.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Will I have signal in the Blue Mountains?+

Patchily. The main road up toward Irish Town and Newcastle holds signal in places, but the deeper valleys and the Blue Mountain Peak trail lose it. Download maps before heading up.

How much data do I actually need?+

Less than you'd think if you're resort-based, since Wi-Fi is nearly universal. Buy for the excursions and the days out — 1 GB covers a week of maps and messaging for most people.

How do I install it?+

After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.

Will it work on my phone?+

Most phones from the last few years support eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung/Pixel). Check your phone in Settings, or use our compatibility checker.

When does my plan start?+

Validity counts from first connection in the destination, not from purchase — so you can buy and install early without wasting days.

Can I keep using my normal number?+

Yes. The eSIM is data-only and runs alongside your usual SIM, so calls and texts on your main number still work.
