An island half abandoned
Montserrat is unlike anywhere else in the Caribbean. The Soufrière Hills volcano began erupting in 1995, burying the capital Plymouth and forcing the evacuation of the southern two-thirds of the island. A large exclusion zone remains in place, and the population is a fraction of what it once was.
What's left is a green, quiet, genuinely uncrowded island with a view of an active volcano and the ruins of a city beneath the ash. It's a serious place, and visitors are asked to treat the zone restrictions accordingly.
FLOW in the northern safe zone
Your eSIM connects to FLOW on 4G. Coverage follows the inhabited north — Brades, Little Bay, Salem, Woodlands and the airport at Gerald's are all served.
The exclusion zone to the south has essentially no coverage and no reason for you to be in it. Access is restricted and controlled, and the Montserrat Volcano Observatory publishes the current status — check it rather than assuming.
How much data
Montserrat is small and quiet and most visitors stay a few days. 1 GB at £8.99 is ample. Ferries and flights connect via Antigua, which needs its own plan if you're spending time there.
Good to know
Questions, answered
Can I visit the exclusion zone and will I have signal there?+
Access to the exclusion zone is restricted and controlled, and there's essentially no mobile coverage in it. Check the Montserrat Volcano Observatory's current guidance and respect the restrictions — this is an active volcano, not a viewpoint.
Do I need an Antigua plan too?+
If you're spending time in Antigua, yes — most routes to Montserrat connect through it by ferry or short flight, and the two are separate plans.
How do I install it?+
After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.
Will it work on my phone?+
Most phones from the last few years support eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung/Pixel). Check your phone in Settings, or use our compatibility checker.
When does my plan start?+
Validity counts from first connection in the destination, not from purchase — so you can buy and install early without wasting days.
Can I keep using my normal number?+
Yes. The eSIM is data-only and runs alongside your usual SIM, so calls and texts on your main number still work.
