Read this before you buy
St Martin is a single island of 87 square kilometres split between two countries. The northern French side, Saint-Martin, is an overseas collectivity of France. The southern Dutch side, Sint Maarten, is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
This plan covers the French side only. Crucially, Princess Juliana International Airport — the one with the famous beach at the end of the runway, and where virtually everyone arrives — is on the Dutch side.
So you will land somewhere this plan does not work, and your data will start once you cross to the north. The border is unmarked and you'll cross it by road in a few minutes, but it's a genuine gap and worth expecting rather than troubleshooting.
Orange coverage on the French side
Your eSIM connects to Orange on 5G. Marigot, Grand Case, Orient Bay, Anse Marcel and the French coastal road are all well covered.
Because the island is so small, your phone may pick up Dutch-side networks near the border, particularly around Simpson Bay and the lagoon. Check the carrier name if your data behaves unexpectedly there.
Which plan to buy
If you're staying on the French side, this is the one, and at £1.00 a gigabyte it's excellent value. If you're staying in Simpson Bay, Philipsburg or Maho on the Dutch side, this plan won't serve you.
If you're splitting your time, expect to be covered for only part of it — the two halves genuinely are separate jurisdictions.
Good to know
Questions, answered
Does this work at Princess Juliana airport?+
No. The airport is on the Dutch side, Sint Maarten, which this plan doesn't cover. Your data will start working once you cross into the French north — a short drive over an unmarked border.
I'm staying in Philipsburg or Maho — is this the right plan?+
No, those are on the Dutch side. This plan covers the French half only: Marigot, Grand Case, Orient Bay and the north. The two sides are separate jurisdictions with separate networks.
How do I install it?+
After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.
Will it work on my phone?+
Most phones from the last few years support eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung/Pixel). Check your phone in Settings, or use our compatibility checker.
When does my plan start?+
Validity counts from first connection in the destination, not from purchase — so you can buy and install early without wasting days.
Can I keep using my normal number?+
Yes. The eSIM is data-only and runs alongside your usual SIM, so calls and texts on your main number still work.
