Ganvié is a village of some 20,000 people built on stilts in Lake Nokoué, reached by pirogue from Abomey-Calavi. It's the largest lake village in Africa and coverage on the water is workable near the shore.
Ouidah, on the coast, is central to both the history of the transatlantic slave trade and to Vodun, which is an official religion in Benin rather than the caricature exported elsewhere. Both are within covered areas and both reward reading about beforehand.
