Two Congos, and this is the smaller one

There are two countries called Congo, separated by the Congo river, and confusing them is easy. This is the Republic of the Congo, capital Brazzaville, on the river's right bank — sometimes called Congo-Brazzaville for clarity.

Across the water is the Democratic Republic of the Congo, capital Kinshasa, which is a separate and much larger country with its own plan on our site. The two capitals face each other across the river and are the closest pair of capital cities in the world, but they are entirely separate networks.

Airtel coverage

Your eSIM connects to Airtel on 4G. Brazzaville, Pointe-Noire, Dolisie and the RN1 between the capital and the coast are covered.

The north of the country is dense equatorial rainforest with very little coverage. Odzala-Kokoua and Nouabalé-Ndoki national parks, which are among the best places in the world to see western lowland gorillas, are effectively offline.

How much data

3 GB at £19.99 covers a fortnight in the covered south. If you're heading to the northern parks, budget almost nothing for those legs — the lodges arrange their own communications and you'll be entirely out of network.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Is this the same as the Democratic Republic of the Congo?+

No. This is the Republic of the Congo with its capital at Brazzaville. The DRC, capital Kinshasa, is a separate and much larger country with its own plan. The capitals face each other across the river but the networks are entirely separate.

Will I have signal at Odzala for gorilla trekking?+

No. The northern rainforest parks are effectively offline. Lodges arrange their own communications — plan to be out of contact for those legs.

How do I install it?+

After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.

Will it work on my phone?+

Most phones from the last few years support eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung/Pixel). Check your phone in Settings, or use our compatibility checker.

When does my plan start?+

Validity counts from first connection in the destination, not from purchase — so you can buy and install early without wasting days.

Can I keep using my normal number?+

Yes. The eSIM is data-only and runs alongside your usual SIM, so calls and texts on your main number still work.

Networks

Your eSIM hops onto the strongest of Congo - Brazzaville’s local networks automatically — no setup, no choosing.
