Swazi MTN across a compact kingdom

Your eSIM connects to Swazi MTN on 4G. Eswatini is small — roughly 200km by 130km — and coverage across the populated corridor is decent. Mbabane, Manzini, the Ezulwini valley and the main roads are all served.

The Lubombo mountains to the east and the more remote Highveld areas are thinner.

A word on cost, and the South Africa question

Eswatini is among our more expensive destinations per gigabyte, which is small-market wholesale pricing rather than our markup.

Worth knowing: most visitors reach Eswatini overland from South Africa, often as a two or three day detour on a longer trip. Your South Africa plan stops at the border, and Eswatini costs roughly seven times more per gigabyte. For a short visit, many travellers reasonably rely on lodge Wi-Fi rather than buying a separate plan.

The parks and how much data

Hlane, Mlilwane and Mkhaya are the main reserves and all sit within reasonable reach of covered areas, though signal inside varies.

If you do buy, 1 GB at £13.99 covers a few days. For anything longer, weigh it against how much time you'll actually spend away from Wi-Fi.

Questions, answered

Does my South Africa plan work in Eswatini?+

No. They're separate countries with separate networks, and your South Africa plan stops at the border. Eswatini is also around seven times more expensive per gigabyte, which is worth factoring in for a short detour.

Is it worth buying for a two-day visit?+

Often not. Lodge Wi-Fi covers most short stays and the per-gigabyte cost here is high. Buy it if you need reliable maps and messaging on the road; otherwise it's reasonable to skip.

How do I install it?+

After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.

Will it work on my phone?+

Most phones from the last few years support eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung/Pixel). Check your phone in Settings, or use our compatibility checker.

When does my plan start?+

Validity counts from first connection in the destination, not from purchase — so you can buy and install early without wasting days.

Can I keep using my normal number?+

Yes. The eSIM is data-only and runs alongside your usual SIM, so calls and texts on your main number still work.
