csl coverage across a vertical city
Your eSIM connects to csl on 5G. Hong Kong is one of the most densely networked places anywhere — the island, Kowloon, the New Territories and the outlying islands including Lantau and Cheung Chau are all thoroughly covered.
The MTR has coverage across the whole system, including the cross-harbour tunnels. So do the Peak Tram, the Star Ferry and the airport express.
Hong Kong is separate from mainland China
Worth being clear about. Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region with its own mobile networks and, relevantly for travellers, its own unrestricted internet — Google, WhatsApp and Instagram all work normally here.
This plan covers Hong Kong only. If you're crossing into Shenzhen or Guangzhou, you'll need our China plan as well. Same goes for Macao, which is also separate and has its own plan. A trip taking in all three needs to account for that.
How much data
A long weekend runs comfortably on 1 GB at £1.99, helped by Wi-Fi in most malls, cafés and MTR stations. A week with heavy maps and messaging wants 3 GB. Business travellers tethering should take the 10 GB.

Questions, answered
Does this cover mainland China or Macao?+
No. Hong Kong, Macao and mainland China run separate networks and we list them as separate plans. If your trip crosses into Shenzhen or over to Macao, you'll want the relevant plan for each.
Is the internet restricted like in mainland China?+
No. Hong Kong has its own unrestricted internet — Google, WhatsApp, Instagram and the rest all work normally, with no VPN needed.
How do I install it?+
After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.
Will it work on my phone?+
Most phones from the last few years support eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung/Pixel). Check your phone in Settings, or use our compatibility checker.
When does my plan start?+
Validity counts from first connection in the destination, not from purchase — so you can buy and install early without wasting days.
Can I keep using my normal number?+
Yes. The eSIM is data-only and runs alongside your usual SIM, so calls and texts on your main number still work.
