Telkomsel is the one that matters
Your eSIM connects to Telkomsel on 5G, plus XL and Smartfren on 4G. Telkomsel is the important name: in an archipelago of more than 17,000 islands, it has by a wide margin the most reach, and it's the network that still works when you've left the tourist strip.
Bali, Lombok, Java and the main Sumatran cities are well covered. Coverage on the smaller islands is real but thinner, and boat crossings will drop out mid-channel.
Beyond Bali
Canggu and Seminyak have better mobile data than plenty of British market towns. Head east to Flores, Komodo or Raja Ampat and the picture changes quickly — assume patchy on the water and around the dive sites, and download anything you need in advance. The Gili islands are covered from the Lombok mainland, so signal there is usually fine if not fast.
Choosing a plan
Indonesia is one of our cheapest destinations, so there's little reason to run tight. A fortnight in Bali on 5 GB costs less than a beach club cocktail. Digital nomads settling in for a month should take the 20 GB — at under fifteen pounds it's cheaper than most co-working day passes.

Will it work on the Gili islands and the boat over?+
On the Gilis, yes — they're served from the Lombok mainland. The fast-boat crossing itself will drop in and out once you're away from shore, so queue up anything you want to watch before you board.
Is one plan enough for Bali, Java and Lombok?+
Yes. It's a single Indonesia-wide plan covering the whole archipelago, so there's nothing to change when you island-hop or fly between Denpasar and Jakarta.
How do I install it?+
After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.
Will it work on my phone?+
