Beeline in the valleys and towns
Your eSIM connects to Beeline on 4G. Kyrgyzstan is over ninety per cent mountain, and coverage sits where the people do — Bishkek, Osh, Karakol, the Issyk-Kul shoreline and the main road corridors are covered reasonably well.
The Tien Shan interior is a different proposition entirely.
Song-Kol, the passes and the yurt camps
The reason to come here is the high country, and the high country has no signal. Song-Kol, the jailoo summer pastures, the Ala-Kul trek and most of the passes are entirely without coverage.
That's not a complaint about the network — it's what a country of high mountain pasture looks like. Yurt camps are genuinely off-grid, often without electricity beyond a solar panel. Download offline maps, agree pickup arrangements before you go up, and let someone know when you expect to be back down. Community-based tourism operators here are well organised and used to this.
How much data
Given how much of a Kyrgyz trip is spent above the coverage line, modest is right. 1 GB at £1.99 covers Bishkek and the lakeside for a week. 3 GB is ample for a fortnight including town stops between treks.
Good to know
Questions, answered
Will I have signal at Song-Kol or on the treks?+
No. The high pastures and mountain passes have no coverage from any network, and yurt camps are genuinely off-grid. Download maps, agree pickups in advance, and tell someone your route before you head up.
How much data do I need?+
Less than for most destinations, because you'll be out of coverage for the best parts of the trip. 1 GB covers Bishkek and Issyk-Kul for a week; 3 GB is plenty for a fortnight with town stops in between.
How do I install it?+
After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.
Will it work on my phone?+
Most phones from the last few years support eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung/Pixel). Check your phone in Settings, or use our compatibility checker.
When does my plan start?+
Validity counts from first connection in the destination, not from purchase — so you can buy and install early without wasting days.
Can I keep using my normal number?+
Yes. The eSIM is data-only and runs alongside your usual SIM, so calls and texts on your main number still work.
