Two networks, one very large island
Your eSIM connects to Airtel and Orange on 4G. Madagascar is the fourth largest island in the world, and coverage concentrates around Antananarivo, the RN7 corridor south to Tuléar, and the main coastal towns.
Having both networks helps, since their rural reach differs. The east coast, the far north around Diego Suarez and the deep west toward Morondava are thinner.
The roads are the real story
Madagascar's road network is famously difficult. The RN7 is paved and manageable; almost everything else ranges from slow to seasonal. Journeys routinely take two or three times longer than the distance suggests, and wet season closures are common.
This makes offline maps genuinely important. It also means your itinerary will slip, and being able to message ahead to a lodge from the last covered town is worth more than you'd think.
Parks and data sizing
Andasibe, Ranomafana and Isalo have coverage in the nearby villages and little inside. The tsingy at Bemaraha is remote in every sense.

Will I have signal in the national parks?+
In the villages beside them, generally yes. Inside Andasibe, Ranomafana, Isalo or the Bemaraha tsingy, little to none. Download maps and confirm arrangements from the last covered town.
How reliable is coverage on the RN7?+
Reasonable along the corridor and in the towns. Off it, coverage drops away fast — and so does the road quality. Journeys take far longer than the map suggests, so offline maps matter here.
How do I install it?+
