Two networks, one eSIM
You'll connect to Orange Morocco on 5G and Maroc Telecom, known locally as IAM, on 4G. Maroc Telecom is the incumbent with the deepest rural reach, so having both is genuinely useful the moment you leave the imperial cities.
Marrakech, Fes, Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier and the Atlantic coast are all well covered. The High Atlas passes and the run out to Merzouga hold signal along the main roads but thin out in the valleys.
Navigating a medina without getting lost
This is the one place a working data connection genuinely earns its keep in Morocco. The medinas in Fes and Marrakech are dense, largely unsigned and cheerfully immune to a sense of direction. Live maps make the difference between finding your riad and paying someone to walk you there. GPS drifts among the tall walls, so keep your expectations sensible and your pin dropped.
How much data you'll need
A long weekend in Marrakech is comfortable on 1 GB. A week taking in Fes, Chefchaouen and the coast wants 3 GB. If you're driving the south, doing a Sahara night and posting as you go, 5 GB is the right call — and the 10 GB plan is only a few pounds more.

Will I get signal in the Sahara or the Atlas mountains?+
Along the main roads and in the tourist camps near Merzouga and Zagora, usually yes. Deeper into the dunes or up in the High Atlas valleys, expect to lose it. Download offline maps before you leave the tarmac.
Is data enough, or do I need a Moroccan number?+
Data is enough for almost everything travellers do here — maps, WhatsApp, ride-hailing and booking. Your UK number stays active alongside the eSIM, so any calls or texts to it still reach you.
How do I install it?+
