Near-total coverage on a very small island
Singapore is 50km across and one of the most thoroughly networked places on earth. Your eSIM runs on StarHub 5G, and in practice that means signal essentially everywhere — including the MRT tunnels, the underground malls along Orchard Road and the basement food courts, all of which have proper in-tunnel coverage.
There is no meaningful coverage gap to plan around here, which is not something we can say about many destinations.
Built for the layover
Plenty of people land in Singapore for eight hours rather than eight days, and it's a genuinely good city to walk out into. Changi's free Wi-Fi works but wants a passport scan or an SMS code at a kiosk, which is a faintly ridiculous errand when your connecting flight is in six hours.
Installing an eSIM before you fly means you're online while still taxiing. Our 1 GB plan is £1.00 and lasts seven days, which covers a stopover with room to spare.
Data for a longer stay
For a full week of maps, Grab and messaging, 3 GB is ample. Business travellers tethering a laptop should take 10 GB. Free public Wi-Fi is widespread and hotel connections are fast, so most visitors get through less than they planned for.
Good to know
Questions, answered
Is it worth getting an eSIM just for a layover?+
For a long one, yes. The 1 GB plan costs £1.00 and is live the moment you land, which beats queuing at a Changi Wi-Fi kiosk to scan your passport. For a short transit staying airside, the airport Wi-Fi will do.
Does it work on the MRT underground?+
Yes. Singapore's MRT tunnels have full mobile coverage, so you'll keep signal for the whole ride in from Changi rather than losing it between stations.
How do I install it?+
After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.
Will it work on my phone?+
Most phones from the last few years support eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung/Pixel). Check your phone in Settings, or use our compatibility checker.
When does my plan start?+
Validity counts from first connection in the destination, not from purchase — so you can buy and install early without wasting days.
Can I keep using my normal number?+
Yes. The eSIM is data-only and runs alongside your usual SIM, so calls and texts on your main number still work.
