Three networks, north to south

Your eSIM can use AIS and DTAC on 5G plus True Move on 4G. Thailand's mobile coverage is genuinely excellent for the region — Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Krabi and the Gulf islands are all well served, and even smaller towns along the main routes hold up.

The hill country around Pai and Mae Hong Son, and the interior of the larger islands, are where you'll see gaps. The BTS Skytrain and MRT in Bangkok both have coverage.

Island boats and the long-tail problem

Ferries between Surat Thani and Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao lose signal in the middle. So do the longer speedboat runs out to the Similans and Phi Phi. Screenshot your booking reference before you board rather than trusting you'll be able to pull up the email.

Once you're on the islands, coverage around the main beaches and towns is solid. The far side of Koh Tao is not.

Picking a plan

Two weeks of Bangkok and the islands sits comfortably on 5 GB at £4.99. A month backpacking the full north-to-south route wants 20 GB. There's also a 50 GB plan running 10 days at £12.99 if you're working remotely on a short, heavy stint.

Questions, answered

Will it work on the islands and the ferries over?+

On the islands, yes — Koh Samui, Phangan, Tao, Phuket and Krabi all have solid coverage around the main beaches and towns. Ferry crossings drop out mid-route, so save your booking details offline first.

Does it cover the Bangkok Skytrain and MRT?+

Yes. Both the BTS Skytrain and the underground MRT have mobile coverage, so you'll keep signal through the whole journey including the tunnelled sections.

How do I install it?+

After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.

Will it work on my phone?+

Most phones from the last few years support eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung/Pixel). Check your phone in Settings, or use our compatibility checker.

When does my plan start?+

Validity counts from first connection in the destination, not from purchase — so you can buy and install early without wasting days.

Can I keep using my normal number?+

Yes. The eSIM is data-only and runs alongside your usual SIM, so calls and texts on your main number still work.
