Claro and Movistar coverage

Your eSIM connects to Claro and Movistar on 4G. Argentina is the eighth largest country in the world with most of its population in and around Buenos Aires, and coverage reflects that.

Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Rosario, Mendoza, Bariloche and Iguazú are all well covered. The pampas along the main routes hold up. Patagonia is where it changes.

Patagonia and Ruta 40

The distances down south are genuinely hard to picture from a map. El Calafate, El Chaltén, Ushuaia and Bariloche have coverage in town. The roads between them — Ruta 40 in particular — run for hundreds of kilometres through empty steppe with nothing at all.

If you're driving it, download offline maps, carry more fuel than you think you need, and don't rely on a phone to summon help. The Perito Moreno glacier viewing area has signal; the trekking routes on the ice do not.

How much data

A fortnight taking in Buenos Aires, Mendoza and Iguazú runs on 5 GB at £12.99. A longer Patagonian trip wants 10 GB, though you'll be out of coverage for a good part of the driving.

Questions, answered

Will I have signal driving Ruta 40 in Patagonia?+

Mostly not. The towns have coverage, the hundreds of kilometres between them frequently don't. Download offline maps, carry spare fuel and treat a mobile signal as a bonus rather than a plan.

Does it cover both sides of Iguazú Falls?+

The Argentine side only. The Brazilian side across the border needs our Brazil plan — most visitors do both, so it's worth checking before you cross.

How do I install it?+

After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.

Will it work on my phone?+

Most phones from the last few years support eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung/Pixel). Check your phone in Settings, or use our compatibility checker.

When does my plan start?+

Validity counts from first connection in the destination, not from purchase — so you can buy and install early without wasting days.

Can I keep using my normal number?+

Yes. The eSIM is data-only and runs alongside your usual SIM, so calls and texts on your main number still work.
