Claro and TIM across a continent-sized country
Your eSIM connects to Claro and TIM, both on 5G. Brazil is larger than the contiguous United States and coverage follows the coast, where most of the population lives.
Rio, São Paulo, Salvador, Recife, Brasília, Florianópolis and the whole eastern seaboard are well covered, as is Foz do Iguaçu. The interior and the Amazon basin are a different matter entirely.
No CPF, no queue
Buying a Brazilian SIM as a visitor normally requires a CPF, the national taxpayer number. Getting one as a tourist is possible but involves a federal revenue office and a degree of patience that few people have on day one of a holiday.
An eSIM sidesteps it completely. No CPF, no registration, no queue — it's issued before you fly and works when you land.
The Amazon, and how much data to buy
Manaus has coverage. Once you're on a river boat or at a jungle lodge, you won't. That's the expected state of affairs and lodges generally arrange their own connections.
For a fortnight covering Rio, Iguaçu and a coastal stretch, 5 GB at £10.99 is right. A month-long trip with heavy navigation wants the 20 GB.

Questions, answered
Do I need a CPF number to use this eSIM?+
No. A CPF is normally required to buy a Brazilian SIM as a foreigner. Your eSIM is issued before you travel, so there's no tax number, no registration and no federal revenue office involved.
Will I have signal in the Amazon?+
In Manaus and the larger river towns, yes. On a boat trip or at a jungle lodge, no — the basin is largely uncovered. Lodges usually have their own arrangements; plan to be offline.
How do I install it?+
After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.
Will it work on my phone?+
Most phones from the last few years support eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung/Pixel). Check your phone in Settings, or use our compatibility checker.
When does my plan start?+
Validity counts from first connection in the destination, not from purchase — so you can buy and install early without wasting days.
Can I keep using my normal number?+
Yes. The eSIM is data-only and runs alongside your usual SIM, so calls and texts on your main number still work.
