WOM coverage down a very long country

Your eSIM connects to WOM on 5G. Chile runs more than 4,000km north to south while rarely exceeding 200km wide, which makes for an unusual coverage map — a thin, well-served spine with not much either side of it.

Santiago, Valparaíso, the central valley, San Pedro de Atacama and Puerto Natales are all covered. The Andes to the east and the far southern fjords are not.

Atacama and Torres del Paine

San Pedro de Atacama has good coverage in town. The desert excursions — the geysers at El Tatio, the salt flats, the stargazing sites — are mostly beyond it, which is exactly why the stargazing is so good.

Torres del Paine has signal at the park entrances and some refugios. The W and O circuits largely don't. Book your refugios in advance and download the route; the weather down there changes fast and you won't be checking a forecast mid-trek.

How much data

A fortnight covering Santiago, the Atacama and a Patagonian leg runs on 5 GB at £13.99. Note that Easter Island, though Chilean territory, has very limited coverage and shouldn't be assumed.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Does it cover Easter Island?+

Easter Island is Chilean territory, but mobile coverage there is limited and served by only some operators — we wouldn't rely on it. If Rapa Nui is central to your trip, plan around Wi-Fi at your accommodation instead.

Will I have signal trekking Torres del Paine?+

At the park entrances and some refugios, yes. Across most of the W and O circuits, no. Download your route and book refugios ahead — Patagonian weather turns quickly and you won't be checking forecasts on the trail.

How do I install it?+

After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.

Will it work on my phone?+

Most phones from the last few years support eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung/Pixel). Check your phone in Settings, or use our compatibility checker.

When does my plan start?+

Validity counts from first connection in the destination, not from purchase — so you can buy and install early without wasting days.

Can I keep using my normal number?+

Yes. The eSIM is data-only and runs alongside your usual SIM, so calls and texts on your main number still work.
