Three networks in a small country
Your eSIM can use Proximus on 5G plus Orange Belgium and Base on 4G. Belgium is dense, urbanised and short on empty space, so coverage is comprehensive nearly everywhere.
Brussels, Antwerp, Bruges, Ghent and the whole Flemish plain are well covered. The Ardennes in the southeast are the only part with genuine gaps, and mostly in the deeper valleys.
Trains, and the border question
Belgian rail is dense and the country is small — Brussels to Bruges is an hour. Trackside coverage is good throughout, including the Eurostar approach.
Because Belgium is compact and hemmed in by four countries, phones near the borders can occasionally latch onto a French, Dutch, German or Luxembourgish network instead. If you're staying right on a border, it's worth checking which network you're actually on before assuming your plan is running.
How much data
A weekend in Bruges or Brussels sits fine on 1 GB at £1.00. A week touring the Flemish cities wants 3 GB. Business travellers commuting to Brussels regularly should look at the 50 GB, valid 180 days at £34.99.

Will my phone pick up a French or Dutch network near the border?+
It can. Belgium is small and densely surrounded, so signal spillover happens in border areas. Your phone normally prefers the Belgian networks, but if you're staying right on a frontier it's worth checking which one you're connected to.
Is coverage good on the trains?+
Yes. Belgium's rail network runs through consistently well-covered territory and the journeys are short, so you'll have a workable connection throughout.
