The Faroes are a self-governing nation within the Kingdom of Denmark, with their own language, currency and telecoms. A Denmark plan does not cover them, which catches out a fair number of visitors who assume otherwise.

The tunnels, which are remarkable
The Faroes are linked by an extensive network of road tunnels, including several under the sea between islands — one of which has a roundabout in it, decorated with an art installation, 187 metres below the Atlantic.
Most of the major tunnels have mobile coverage, which is not something you'd assume. The older single-lane mountain tunnels are more variable. Either way, the tunnels are how you get around, so it's a genuine practical point.
Weather, and why data matters here
Faroese weather changes constantly and dramatically, and several of the best walks — Kallur lighthouse, Drangarnir, Sørvágsvatn — are on exposed clifftops where fog arrives fast.

Does a Denmark plan cover the Faroe Islands?+
No. The Faroes are self-governing within the Kingdom of Denmark and have their own telecoms network. You need this plan — it's a common and expensive assumption to get wrong.
Is there signal in the sub-sea tunnels?+
In most of the major ones, yes — including the tunnel with the roundabout under the Atlantic. Older single-lane mountain tunnels are more variable.
