GibTel across a very small territory
Your eSIM connects to GibTel on 5G. Gibraltar is about 6.7 square kilometres — you can walk its length in an hour — and coverage across the town, the port and the Upper Rock nature reserve is comprehensive.
The siege tunnels and St Michael's Cave lose signal underground, which won't surprise anyone.
The Spain problem, which is genuine here
Gibraltar borders Spain and is small enough that Spanish networks reach across most of it. Phones frequently latch onto a Spanish carrier without any obvious sign, particularly near the frontier, on the airport side and along the western shore.
If that happens on a plan that only covers Gibraltar, your data stops. Check the carrier name in your settings if things go quiet. Anyone splitting time between Gibraltar and the Costa del Sol — which describes most visitors — should seriously consider a Spain plan, or the Europe plan, which covers both.
How much data
Gibraltar is small and most visits are a day or two. 1 GB at £4.99 is ample.
Given the price and the border spillover, it's worth being honest: if Gibraltar is a day trip from Spain, a Spain plan is likely the better buy. This plan makes sense if the Rock is where you're actually staying.
Good to know
Questions, answered
My phone keeps connecting to a Spanish network — why?+
Gibraltar is small enough that Spanish signal reaches across much of it, especially near the frontier and on the western shore. On a Gibraltar-only plan your data stops when that happens. Check the carrier name in your settings.
Should I buy this or a Spain plan?+
If you're staying on the Rock, this one. If Gibraltar is a day trip from the Costa del Sol — which it is for most visitors — a Spain plan is cheaper and handles the border spillover. The Europe plan covers both.
How do I install it?+
After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.
Will it work on my phone?+
Most phones from the last few years support eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung/Pixel). Check your phone in Settings, or use our compatibility checker.
When does my plan start?+
Validity counts from first connection in the destination, not from purchase — so you can buy and install early without wasting days.
Can I keep using my normal number?+
Yes. The eSIM is data-only and runs alongside your usual SIM, so calls and texts on your main number still work.
