Coverage across the country
Your eSIM connects to Vodafone Hungary and Yettel, formerly Telenor Hungary, both on 5G. Hungary is flat, compact and well networked — Budapest, Debrecen, Szeged, Pécs and the whole Lake Balaton shore are comfortably covered.
The Great Plain and the Bükk hills are thinner in places, but there's very little of Hungary where you'd be genuinely stuck.
Budapest, and where you'll actually use it
The metro has coverage, including Line 1, which is the oldest underground railway on the European mainland and still running. The ruin bars in the seventh district are a warren, and finding the one your friends are in without maps is a genuine test of a friendship.
The thermal baths are the one place to leave the phone in the locker. Széchenyi and Gellért both have coverage, but a steamy pool and a handset are not natural allies.
How much data
A city break in Budapest runs fine on 1 GB at £1.00. A week including Balaton and the Danube bend wants 3 GB. The 50 GB plan is valid 180 days at £34.99, which is good value if you visit more than once a year.

How do I install it?+
