Eir coverage across the Republic
Your eSIM runs on Eir on 5G. Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick and the main N-roads are well covered, as are the popular tourist routes along the west coast.
Rural Ireland is more mixed. The Beara and Dingle peninsulas, parts of Connemara and the Donegal headlands have real gaps — beautiful, remote and not especially well served by anyone. Plan for it rather than being surprised by it.
This plan covers the Republic, not Northern Ireland
Worth being clear about, because the border is invisible and easy to cross without noticing. Belfast, Derry, the Giant's Causeway and the Antrim coast are in the United Kingdom, and are not covered by the Ireland plan.
If your trip takes in both — a Dublin-to-Belfast run, or the full Causeway Coastal Route — you'll want our United Kingdom plan as well, or the Europe plan which covers both on one eSIM.
How much data to buy
A weekend in Dublin sits fine on 1 GB at £1.00. A week driving the Wild Atlantic Way with maps running constantly wants 5 GB. There's also a 50 GB plan valid for 180 days if you're back and forth regularly.
Good to know
Questions, answered
Does this cover Northern Ireland?+
No. The Ireland plan covers the Republic only. Belfast, Derry and the Giant's Causeway are in the UK — you'd want our United Kingdom plan for those, or the Europe plan to cover both on a single eSIM.
How is coverage on the Wild Atlantic Way?+
Good along the main route and in the towns, patchy on the remote peninsulas. Connemara, Dingle, Beara and the Donegal headlands all have genuine gaps that affect Irish networks too. Download offline maps before you set off.
How do I install it?+
After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.
Will it work on my phone?+
Most phones from the last few years support eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung/Pixel). Check your phone in Settings, or use our compatibility checker.
When does my plan start?+
Validity counts from first connection in the destination, not from purchase — so you can buy and install early without wasting days.
Can I keep using my normal number?+
Yes. The eSIM is data-only and runs alongside your usual SIM, so calls and texts on your main number still work.
