Travel advice and practical constraints
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office advises against all travel to Russia. That advice invalidates most standard travel insurance, and consular support is severely limited.
There are practical constraints beyond safety. UK-issued bank cards do not work in Russia, so Apple Pay, Google Pay and contactless are all unavailable to visitors, and flights require routing through third countries. Check the current position before making any plans.
Tele2 and Beeline coverage
Your eSIM connects to Tele2 on 5G and Beeline on 4G. Moscow, St Petersburg and the major cities of European Russia are well covered, as is the Trans-Siberian corridor at its stations.
Russia is by far the largest country in the world and much of Siberia and the far north has minimal coverage. Long train journeys drop in and out for hours at a time.
Access to services
Be aware that access to a number of international websites and services is restricted within Russia, and that this has expanded in recent years. A roaming eSIM routes traffic differently to a domestic SIM, but we make no promises about what will or won't be reachable.
Plans start at 1 GB for £1.99.

Questions, answered
Should I be travelling to Russia?+
UK travel advice is against all travel, which invalidates most insurance, and consular support is severely limited. There are practical barriers too — UK bank cards don't work there and flights route via third countries. Check current FCDO guidance before planning anything.
Will my usual apps and websites work?+
Access to a range of international services is restricted within Russia and has broadened in recent years. A roaming eSIM routes traffic differently to a domestic SIM, but we can't promise what will be reachable.
How do I install it?+
After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.
Will it work on my phone?+
Most phones from the last few years support eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung/Pixel). Check your phone in Settings, or use our compatibility checker.
When does my plan start?+
Validity counts from first connection in the destination, not from purchase — so you can buy and install early without wasting days.
Can I keep using my normal number?+
Yes. The eSIM is data-only and runs alongside your usual SIM, so calls and texts on your main number still work.
