You'll be on Italian networks
San Marino is a sovereign republic of 61 square kilometres entirely surrounded by Italy, and it's served by the Italian networks — your eSIM connects to TIM, Iliad and Wind on 5G, exactly as it would across the border.
Both this plan and our Italy plan cost £1.00 a gigabyte. If your trip includes Rimini, Bologna or anywhere else in Italy, which it almost certainly does since San Marino has no airport, the Italy plan is the more useful purchase and covers you in both places.
Monte Titano and the towers
The historic centre sits on a limestone ridge rising sharply out of the Romagna plain, and the three towers along its crest are the country's emblem. On a clear day you can see the Adriatic coast.
Coverage across the ridge, the funicular from Borgo Maggiore and the walking path between the towers is comprehensive. The Passo delle Streghe, the exposed path linking the first two towers, has signal throughout.
How much data
Most people visit San Marino for a day from the Rimini coast. 1 GB at £1.00 is far more than a day trip requires.
Parking is at the base and you take the funicular or a shuttle up, so live directions to the right car park are the practical use for your data here.
Good to know
Questions, answered
Should I buy this or the Italy plan?+
The Italy plan, for most people. San Marino runs on Italian networks, both plans cost £1.00 a gigabyte, and you have to travel through Italy to get here — there's no airport. The Italy plan covers both.
Is there coverage up at the towers?+
Yes, comprehensively — along the ridge, on the funicular and across the Passo delle Streghe path between the towers.
How do I install it?+
After checkout we email your eSIM and a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings, switch the line on, and you're ready — do it before you fly and it activates when you land.
Will it work on my phone?+
Most phones from the last few years support eSIM (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung/Pixel). Check your phone in Settings, or use our compatibility checker.
When does my plan start?+
Validity counts from first connection in the destination, not from purchase — so you can buy and install early without wasting days.
Can I keep using my normal number?+
Yes. The eSIM is data-only and runs alongside your usual SIM, so calls and texts on your main number still work.
